Dogs that follow the trail of a specific person. The dog can trail the person from their last known location. Can be used in urban or rural areas.

Air Scenting

Air Scent search dogs can be deployed to cover large areas, helping locate a missing person quickly. Highly versatile, they excel in forestry, farmland and even some urban environments.

Human Remains Detection

Dogs that are trained to find the remains of recently or long term deceased missing persons.

Ireland’s Specialist Search and Rescue Dogs (ISSARD) is a voluntary organisation dedicated to the training and deployment of highly specialised search and rescue dogs. Our mission is to serve as a resource to An Garda Síochána, other tasking agencies and SAR Teams, providing expert K9 support in the search, rescue, and recovery of missing persons throughout the island of Ireland. Our team is committed to upholding the highest standards in search and rescue, ensuring a professional, reliable, and effective response when it matters most.
